Mawlana Hazar Imam visited Madagascar during his Golden Jubilee in 2007. President Nishad Djaffar delivered a loyalty address to the Imam on behalf of the Jamat of Madagascar and the countries under its jurisdiction.
On 11 July 2007, Mawlana Hazar Imam completed 50 years as Imam (spiritual leader) of the Ismailis. Fifty years ago, at the age of 20, he succeeded his grandfather, Mawlana Sultan Mahomed Shah, as the 49th hereditary Imam of the Shia Imami Ismaili Muslims. As part of the commemoration of Mawlana Hazar Imam’s Golden Jubilee, Hazar Imam made official visits to countries around the world. In addition to recognising the friendship and longstanding support of leaders of state, government and other partners in the work of the Ismaili Imamat, Mawlana Hazar Imam granted some 26 Golden Jubilee Darbars to the worldwide Jamat. This film, Golden Jubilee Memories, provides an opportunity to relive the memories of those Golden Jubilee visits.

Mawlana Hazar Imam's Golden Jubilee visit to Mozambique took place in November 2007. As a State Guest, Mawlana Hazar Imam held a number of meetings with Senior Government officials, visited AKDN field projects and met with the Jamat.
Meanwhile in Persia, the Qajar monarch grants the title of Aga Khan to Imam Hasan Ali Shah. Act V narrates the eventful life of Imam Sultan Mahomed Shah and pays glorious homage to Mawlana Hazar Imam including a film clip from Shah Karim’s Takht Nashini and a tribute to what will surely be his legacy: the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN).

A phoenix rises from the ashes – grace follows persecution; Imam Shams al-din Muhammad miraculously survives the destruction of Alamut at the hands of the Mongols. The Imams eventually move to Anjudan in Southern Iran where they become Sufi masters; emissaries spread the Ismaili faith to the Indian sub-continent.

Ali to Karim – Act I: Early Ismailism / Dawr al-Satr (632 – 795)

A group of actors discover a world of books from which they share events of Ismaili history such as at Ghadir-e-Khum where Prophet Muhammad makes a pivotal statement about Hazrat Ali. This Act also depicts the Legend of the 7 Sleepers as it foretells the Cycle of Concealment.
