This week in history, Mawlana Hazar Imam was among six recipients of the Andrew Carnegie Medal of Philanthropy. He was awarded the medal by Mary Robinson, former President of Ireland and former UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, and now Director of the Ethical Globalisation Initiative, noting that Mawlana Hazar Imam's "values of pluralism, multiculturalism, and strengthening civil society, are those we must all emulate." On the 22nd October 2015, Mawlana Hazar Imam delivered the keynote address at a conference marking the 50th anniversary of the International Council on Monuments and Sites (ICOMOS) in London.
In 2005, Mawlana Hazar Imam was awarded the Die Quadriga prize in recognition of his life’s work in helping people in the poorest regions of the world. We then tune in for the first part of the sixth Annual Pluralism Lecture, delivered by Karen Armstrong, author, and religious historian. Her lecture, entitled “Compassion or Toleration? Two Approaches to Pluralism" explores why pluralism is now of utmost global importance.

The Aga Khan Centre was opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam on 26 June 2018 at an inauguration ceremony in Kings Cross, London, during Hazar Imam's Diamond Jubilee visit to the United Kingdom.
