On the 19th of October 2018, the University of British Columbia (UBC) and Simon Fraser University (SFU) each awarded Mawlana Hazar Imam with an honorary Doctor of Laws degree for his “lifelong service to humanity, and the intersections of his work at both universities,” during a joint conferral ceremony.
In 2005, Mawlana Hazar Imam was awarded the Die Quadriga prize in recognition of his life’s work in helping people in the poorest regions of the world. We then tune in for the first part of the sixth Annual Pluralism Lecture, delivered by Karen Armstrong, author, and religious historian. Her lecture, entitled “Compassion or Toleration? Two Approaches to Pluralism" explores why pluralism is now of utmost global importance.

The Aga Khan Centre was opened by HRH The Prince of Wales in the presence of Mawlana Hazar Imam on 26 June 2018 at an inauguration ceremony in Kings Cross, London, during Hazar Imam's Diamond Jubilee visit to the United Kingdom.
